ISPS – Shipping security
Information on security related activities where the Port of Oxelösund is operationally responsible.
This information is issued against the background of the international rules regarding the security of shipping (ISPS code) which came into force July 1st 2004. The purpose is to clarify which rules apply in actual port areas.
Advanced notification
Vessels putting in the port shall at least 24 hours beforehand notify the port in writing of their arrival and the security category/level of the vessel as well as the security level which was advised in the previous port. The shipping agent should preferably be informed of the particulars who will then pass the information to the Port of Oxelösund Ltd.
Designated ISPS area
A
map clearly shows the areas which have been given ISPS-area status and which gate shall be used by crews going in and out of the port. The area is clearly marked out with signs.
It should be noted that everyone who enters the port can be subject to an identification check.
Entry into an ISPS area
Visitors to the Port of Oxelösund shall use the company’s main entrance (Gate 2) on entering an ISPS area. The gate is equipped with camera surveillance, pass system and telephone contact with the operator.
Gate 1 is equipped as above.
Other entrances to the port may only be used by authorised personnel with a pass.
Crew members identification
Members of the crew who stay in an ISPS area shall when required be able to show either a shipping book or a so called IMO-id. Inability to show a valid identification will result in the refusal of entry and being reported to the police.
Shipping Security Declaration
In those cases where a vessel has a higher security level than the existing level in the port, or otherwise regards itself as needing extra security, shall request a shipping security declaration to be issued. Such a request is addressed directly to PSO or PFSO. Any extra costs incurred will be debited to the vessel.
Vessels which do not meet the ISPS code
Vessels which have not obtained approval according to the ISPS code, or come from a port which does not fulfil the requirements, will be debited all extra costs connected with putting in to the port in the form of security duties etc.
