Safe docking

The Port of Oxelösund is the deepest port on the Swedish east coast. To reach our goal of being able to admit the largest Cape-size vessels which measure 250x44 m or Panamax vessels which measure 250x35 m and also admit vessels during the night, we have developed even safer routines.

 

The work had been carried out in co-operation with the area head for sea traffic and the Nautical Advisors at the pilot station in Oxelösund. Simulations have been carried out to help us make the right decision.

 

This work has also resulted in an improved marking out of the fairway as well as an ASD-tugboat now being stationed in Oxelösund. One of our aims in 2007 is for pilot boats to be equipped with a portable high precision GPS system.
